This story by Karen Matambo, a Compassion Boston Bible Worker.
Today was Diana’s first time giving a Bible study to Kerry,* and by God’s grace she presented the great controversy battle between God and Satan beautifully. She enjoyed giving the study so much that she offered to give the study again next week. Near the end, Kerry, who lost her job and has been pressed for finances, began talking about her health habits and desire to eat fresh, healthy food. In my mind, I thought it would be great to go to a site nearby and bring her back fresh produce. I didn’t say anything though, thinking Diana had to rush home.
As we drove off, Diana mentioned that she was looking for a Marshall’s store earlier and couldn’t find it. I told her there was one nearby we could stop at. On our way there I now mentioned Kerry’s desire for fresh produce and Diana thought it would be great if we took some to her right away. When we went to deliver the fruit and vegetables, Kerry had stepped out, but her husband (who had run upstairs and refused to join us when we arrived earlier for Bible study) answered the door and received our gift. Maybe, just maybe, he will see the love of Jesus in our meager acts of compassion and decide to get to know Jesus.
